NANO Nuclear Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Quadrant Nuclear Industries (QNI) for the potential supply of High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuel. This collaboration aims to secure a domestic fuel source for NANO Nuclear's advanced reactors, addressing a critical supply chain need for the burgeoning advanced nuclear industry.
NANO Nuclear Energy (NNE) and Quadrant Nuclear Industries (QNI) have entered into an MoU to discuss the supply and long-term offtake of HALEU fuel. This is significant because HALEU is a specialized fuel critical for advanced nuclear reactors, and its domestic supply chain is currently underdeveloped. For NNE, this MoU provides a potential pathway to secure a reliable, domestically produced fuel source for its KRONOS MMRTM Energy System, which is crucial for its long-term commercialization strategy. For QNI, it establishes a potential customer for its planned Vanguard facility, which aims to produce HALEU at Idaho National Laboratory. This collaboration helps de-risk the advanced nuclear sector by addressing a key bottleneck, potentially accelerating the deployment of these reactors and supporting U.S. energy security and decarbonization goals. While an MoU is not a definitive commercial agreement, it lays the groundwork for future contracts and signals progress in building out the necessary infrastructure for advanced nuclear power.
